Summer Soirée

Summer SoiréeTo celebrate their anniversary every year, Cary and Kerri Bozeman host a garden-deck party for friends. Their Manette home offers the perfect setting for an August summer party, with Sinclair Inlet providing a stunning backdrop.

Eight years ago, the party started. Today, it’s a mix of friends, neighbors and new faces, with about 60 people in attendance.

Central Market provided all of the barbecue dishes: St. Louis pork ribs, Tex-Mex beans, potato salad, smoked hindquarter chicken, Georgian cornbread, plus an Asian appetizer platter, jumbo prawns, as well as crunchy kale and orzo salads from the deli.

Kerri cooked 15 pounds of fresh sockeye salmon that she also bought from Central Market.

The desserts were prepared by chef Patricia Horton, the baker at Butcher & Baker provisions (, and included: chocolate decadence cake, carrot cake four layers and weighed about 10 pounds, lemon tarte with fresh bluberrries, coconut crème tarte.

“We look forward to this every year,” Cary says. Kerri notes, “We also have four wonderful helpers, many of whom have been at our party for years.”
