This beautiful wineglass wherry was built by Vaughn resident Frank Garratt and his friend, Buzz Bowman, of Annapolis, MD. The two high school friends decided to do a project together when they retired.
The 14-foot, two-station, classic rowing skiff was designed by Pygmy Boats of Port Townsend. Many Key Peninsula residents helped out with the project, including Phil Bauer, John Buday and Mark Runions, as well as Gary Sigmen of Tacoma.
The boat will be auctioned off at a fall fundraiser hosted by The Mustard Seed Project on Sept. 15. The Mustard Seed Project and the Two Waters Arts Alliance, both Key Pen nonprofits, will benefit from the proceeds. Two Waters recently hosted its first Key Center Art Walk, where the wherry was displayed for the public to see.
