Albers Vista Gardens has extended its hours of operation — it will be open to the public every Friday, noon to 4, from June 23 through Oct. 20. A guide will be available to escort individuals or small groups on a leisurely walk to appreciate the beauty of nature in summer and fall, or just to destress for a while.

RSVPs to info [at] albersvistagardens [dot] org are appreciated so that volunteer guides can be matched to the number of expected visitors.

Open Garden Fridays are in addition to the docent-lead tour dates that offer informative talks on an aspect of the garden. All docent tours are from 10 a.m. to noon on specific Saturday dates.

The remaining 2017 Tour Dates and their topics are:

  • June 17, Lavenders in Bloom
  • Sept. 23, Focus on Conifers
  • Oct. 21 & 28, Fall Colors

In addition to Open Garden Fridays and Tour Dates, groups may request a special tour via email to info [at] albersvistagardens [dot] org.

For Open Garden Fridays, scheduled Tour Dates and special tours, a donation of $10 per person is suggested. All donations fund the mission of this nonprofit organization to provide an opportunity for the public to experience and enjoy the wonderful diversity of plant life; educate the public on the origin, benefits and use of exceptional plants and the importance of conservation and the preservation of green spaces in our communities; evaluate plant introductions; advance the understanding, appreciation and stewardship of plant diversity; and maintain and preserve the unique plant collection of the garden.

Albers Vista Gardens is located at 124 NE 31st Street in Bremerton. Parking is limited in this neighborhood, so carpooling is recommended for groups.
