Bremerton Airport Hosts Fly-In and Car Show

bremerton fly-inThe Port of Bremerton’s Bremerton National Airport is hosting the annual Fly-In and Car Show on Saturday, Aug. 31, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. General admission and parking are free.

The morning will start with a pancake breakfast from Chapter 406 of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) from 7 to 11 a.m. All donations support the EAA Young Eagles Flight Indoctrination Program. The EAA Young Eagles will be offering free flights to children ages 8-17 from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 3 p.m., weather dependent.

Olde Thyme Aviation will offer biplane rides for $79 per person based on double occupancy. Helicopter rides will also be available from Seattle Air Taxi.

At noon, the Northwest BeechBoys, a local formation flying group, will perform an aerial flyby demonstration for spectators on the ground.

Airlift Northwest, which works to save lives and provide critical care, will have its helicopter on display on the ramp. Aircraft owners and visiting pilots from throughout the Northwest will also be displaying their aircraft on the flight line. And conditions permitting, World War II warbirds should also be in attendance for viewing.

For the vehicle enthusiast, over 150 classic cars, hot rods, military vehicles and more will be on display. Those wishing to display their cars can register the morning of the event for $20. Preregistration is not available.

Food vendors from Wig Wam Pub BBQ, Carter Ice Cream, Kona Ice and Pedal to the Metal Kettle Corn will be in attendance; the Airport Diner will also be open with full-menu service. Booths for Spencer Aircraft Supply, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Civil Air Patrol, the Kitsap County Community Emergency and Disaster Airlift Response Teams (CERT and DART respectively), the Kitsap Aircraft Radio Control Society (KARCS) and others will also be set up.
