Bainbridge In Bloom Pays Musical Tribute to the Finest Island Gardens

Bainbridge In BloomSights, scents and mellifluous sounds will abound at this year’s Bainbridge In Bloom Garden Tour on June 4 and 5, as Arts & Humanities Bainbridge pays “A Musical Tribute to Gardens.” Now in its 28th year, this premiere annual event will showcase five island gardens inspired by settings in France, Japan and other beautiful locales.

Each setting offers a story personal to the gardener, along with a lush mix of native and exotic plants set on the grounds of inviting island homes.

The continuous musical accompaniment throughout the tour is new to the event. From classical to bluegrass and other genres, fine music will enhance the garden experience, with both local and regional performers featured.

“The thing that makes this Bloom unique is, we are highlighting music to enhance the garden tour experience,” says Patty Bell, Bainbridge In Bloom Garden Tour coordinator. “In the past, we have heard visitors say the gardens are great and the music is amazing.”

The five featured gardens will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, with music beginning at 10 a.m. and running through afternoon’s end.

Advance general admission for the self-drive tour (except for one garden, with access provided by shuttle due to parking restrictions) is $35 for one day and $60 for both days. Tickets are available at Bay Hay & Feed and Bainbridge Gardens and online at www.AHBainbridge.org or BrownPaperTickets.com.

Tour maps, wristbands and brochures will be distributed at the Bloom Hub at the Filipino-American Hall, located at 7655 High School Road, throughout the event. The hub opens at 8:30 a.m. both days. Day-of-event tickets will also be available for purchase at the Hub.

More than 100 volunteers contribute to the Bainbridge In Bloom tour, and various local businesses generously sponsor the event. The Bloom is a major fundraiser for Arts & Humanities Bainbridge, a nonprofit organization that integrates local arts and humanities with activities, architecture, commerce, livelihood and education on Bainbridge Island.

Event proceeds support AHB programs and services for local artists, students and cultural organizations to promote self-expression, artistic collaboration and community enrichment.
